NGO Working for Health Care in India | United Way India

Health

Good health and well-being are foundations upon which communities thrive.

United Way India is strengthening healthcare and nutrition indicators further through its programs to promote good health and healthy practices including the upgradation of public health centers, awareness, education through campaigns, sanitation, hygiene support, and promotion for the marginalized and vulnerable communities.

By addressing the pressing challenges, we aim to make a tangible impact on the health and well-being of communities, contributing to a healthier and more resilient society.

  • India’s priorities at G20 under health: prevent, prepare and respond with focus on access to and availability of safe, effective, quality services to aid universal health coverage
  • According to ICMR 2022, it is estimated that the proportion of deaths due to Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in India has increased from 37.9% to 61.8%.
  • An alarming revelation of NFHS-5* illustrated that anemia has increased by 8% from 58.6% in NFHS-4. However, between NFHS-4 and NFHS-5, stunting has reduced from 38.4% to 35.5%, wasting has reduced from 21.0% to 19.3% and underweight prevalence has reduced from 35.8% to 32.1%. Among upward trending indicators, the under-five mortality rate has reduced from 78% to 60%.
