She is currently Executive Director and CEO of United Way Chennai, an organization that carries out holistic and sustainable interventions across sectors such as education, health, environment, livelihood, and disability.  She is a founding trustee of Citizen Matters Chennai, an online magazine for increasing citizen engagement in solving urban civic issues. Rekha joined United Way of Hyderabad in January 2013. She has 19+ years of pan-India experience in community development. She has worked with various communities which are facing challenges – women, workers in unorganized work sectors, tribal communities, fishing communities, and rural and urban poor.
