As CEO, Jayanti leads United Way India, which is affiliated to the global United Way network — world’s largest privately funded, 135-year-old non-profit organization.

She has more than 35 years of experience in leadership roles and has been associated with various innovative social initiatives, has pioneered the introduction of several campaigns in the development sector and leads the expansion, governance and growth of the United Way network in India.

A visionary and a thought leader, under Jayanti’s stewardship of over 12 years, United Way Mumbai grew from conceptualizing and implementing flagship programs to facilitating large scale interventions in the areas of education, health, public safety, environment, social inclusion, disaster relief and livelihood. Her ability to nurture relationships have led to long-term solutions and success of projects at the community level.

Jayanti is deeply committed towards making a measurable difference in social causes that are close to her heart and is a committed fundraiser, raising much-needed resources for programs that work towards addressing these causes. She is frequently invited as a speaker, panellist and member of jury at events and conferences.

An ardent nature enthusiast, she is passionate about trekking and indoor gardening. She believes that each of us has a role to play to ensure a better environment and actively advocates waste segregation and upcycling.

Jayanti has been the Independent Director on the boards of Standard Chartered Bank group companies, namely Standard Chartered Securities (India) Ltd., Standard Chartered Investment and Loans (India) Ltd, and Standard Chartered Finance Ltd. She is a member of the CII Task Force for India@75 and has been a member of the CSR Committee of the Indian Merchants Chamber. She is the independent (external) member on the POSH (Prevention of sexual harassment) committee of multiple corporations.

Before joining United Way, Jayanti served as the VP – Corporate and Insurance partnerships at IL&FS Investsmart Insurance Brokers. She also has a twenty-five-year stint with New India Assurance Co. as the regional manager for Delhi. She is an M.Sc and M.Phil from the University of Delhi.
